Salzgitter is one of only 16 pilot cities in the former West German States which have been granted subsidies from the Federal Government within the ExWoST Programme.

Acting as the representative of private property owners, with stocks of more than 1,000 apartments, we have accepted the challenge of urban renewal both as a proactive player and service provider.

First came the vision: to sustainably develop the area between the city and Salzgitter Lake. The results of the marketing, relocation management, partial demolition, reconstruction, district conferences, project development and other activities add up to the following:

• Name for the new neighbourhood: „SeeViertel“
• Relocation management for approx. 70 tenants
• Demolition of two 48-unit housing blocks
• Project development and construction of a nursing home for dementia patients, investment approx Euro 5 million.
• Over 70 new jobs directly within the neighbourhood.
• Social management by the SeeViertel meeting place.
• New marketplace forming the centre of the neighbourhood.
• Project development for local retail outlets and car parking, investment approx. Euro 2.5 million.
• First issue and consolidation of the SeeViertel newspaper.
